For professional hair color. How long should the mix be on your hair to acheive a light blonde?

I bought professional color and it doesn't say how long to leave it on to process! For professional hair color. How long should the mix be on your hair to acheive a light blonde?
now by professional, you dont mean something from walmart? But, if you really mean like Redken or another brand, color stops processing at 45min, it wont get any lighter. But, every ten minutes, you should test a strand (spray a little piece with water and rub the color off to see your hair). If its not good enough, put some more on that spot and go another 10min. Becareful with your roots! they will turn out lighter if applied to it first! But, usually color should be on 35-45minFor professional hair color. How long should the mix be on your hair to acheive a light blonde?
well if your hair is brown i say about 25 mins if your hair is red 20-25 mins and if your hair is black 30 mins i would guess cuz i get streakes alot so yah
Most professional haircolors have a FIXED PROCESSING TIME just like home haircolor kits (20-30 mins.) If you leave it on for 25 Mins. You should be good. You can leave many brands on longer but, optimum color is achieved at 25 Mins. Unless you are using a High Lift Color (45 min.) Or Toner Or Tone On Tone Transparent Color (10-15 Min.)

If you can give the brand, I can tell you the how long you can leave it on.

How to Lift a Bad Professional Hair Color?

I went to the salon on Friday with blonde hair. I told the hairdresser I wanted to add some brown highlights to it so it would not be as difficult to maintain during the winter. She totally screwed my hair up. It is very dark brown and instead of having my blonde show threw, she put a toner on so it looks like I have copper highlights. Of course the salon is closed and they are out of town at a hiar show until Wednesday anyway. I have to work tomorrow, and I really can't go like this. Is there anything I can do at home to fix this mess?? I understand everyone has an opinion, but right now I really just need helpfull and factual answers. Thank you!How to Lift a Bad Professional Hair Color?
If you touch it it becomes your problem and no longer the salons. Yeah it sucks, but suck it up until they are open again and go back and have them fix it. Ask for a different stylist, one who knows what they are doing and don't be shy about voicing that. They should fix it for free. They never should have put a toner on top of your blonde unless you didn't want to keep any of it. If it's copper now you could end up with a bigger mess if you try to do anything to it on your own.How to Lift a Bad Professional Hair Color?
Really the only way to fix it is to go to a different salon. I had the same thing happen. I have red hair and wanted low lights and ended up with dark brown hair. It looked awful! I called a higher end salon and got it fixed with no problem. Not all salons are closed on Monday. Check around and find one that has a good reputation. I found out the hard way that it doesn't pay to skimp when it comes to color. Good luck!!

I just used Clairol Professional hair color. I have a question for any hair professionals?

My hair base color has been classified as the darkest of blondes. I have alot of cool undertones... I just used Clariol Professional Lightest Beige. 12b1. MY hair is definately lighter, but a bit reddish! This has a violet undertone. I left this on for 40 minutes.. What gives?I just used Clairol Professional hair color. I have a question for any hair professionals?
Sometimes even beige color can come out with reddish tones, try using a color that it specified as ash instead. I have had the same problem myself. You can also call a representative at the 1-800 # on your haircolor box. I hope this helps!I just used Clairol Professional hair color. I have a question for any hair professionals?

How do you acheive professional hair color at home?

My colorist decided to become a full time Mom so I'm without a good hair colorist and I live in a very rural area. The lady who replaced my colorist never has my brand or color on hand and the last time she colored my hair she had me come back the next day for a ';do-over';. My old colorist told me she used Matrix 5 which is a med brown and the 20 Vol Developer. She was very uncomfortable giving me the info as she does not want to undercut her replacement nor does she want to be responsible for me messing my hair up. She recommended I take the color and developer to the replacement colorist and let her do my hair ... which I DO NOT want to do. So, my question is .. what is the ratio of color:developer for Matrix products and is an overall color achievable at home without disastrous results? How do you acheive professional hair color at home?
Sounds like you still have contact with your former stylist. Yes, she should be uncomfortable giving you information that should be done by professionals and professional products.

If I were you, I would ask her to consult the new operator about the situation and give her the formula for you. The new stylist should be grateful and the former stylist should be happy knowing she has made the proper steps to assure that her formal customer is properly taken care of. If the new stylist does not want to do this, then perhaps your former stylist can recommend someone else but I think they will both be pleased and you also.

May God Bless! How do you acheive professional hair color at home?
I just wanted to say, I ordered my matrix color and developer online, did my hair myself and am very, very pleased with the results and saved myself about $50.00 in professional fees. The Matrix color I used mixed 1 1/2 oz of color to 1 1/2 oz of developer .... EASY!

Need professional hair color advice: how to correct home coloring gone bad - curly afro-amer/black hair?

HI! I checked the archives for advice but all of them are for people who don't have my hair color or texture. I am an african american/black woman with naturally curly (kinky) black hair.

I dyed my hair ';honey blonde'; but it turned out to be ';Ronald McDonald orange.'; From what I can tell from other responses, it might be good to use an ash-based demi-permanent color to fix this mess, but I don't know:

1) Does it make a difference whether I use ';blond ash'; or ';lightest blond ash,';

2) How do I make sure I apply it evenly -- my hair is so frickin curly that I'm bound to miss something if I just apply it straight.

3) I'm just assuming that an ash demi-permanent color is the answer -- is there some other advice for black hair??

Please help!!!Need professional hair color advice: how to correct home coloring gone bad - curly afro-amer/black hair?
First of all, I understand you said that your hair is kinky, so I am going to assume that you have not attempted to relax your hair prior to the coloring. If you hair is relaxed, I would not suggest you try to go any lighter. Next, typically using a box color on VIRGIN hair (not relaxed, permed, or previously colored) is only capable of lightening about 2 shades (unless you use a high lift color, in which case you could get 3-4 shades lighter.) So if your hair is darkest brown to black, what you have ultimately done is just exposed the underlying pigment in your hair and no extra processing time would have made the result any different. Ethnic hair is very tricky because it is much more delicate than other hair types. I would not recommend you attempt to correct this on your own. In answer to the question, an ash base will neutralize, to a small extent, the amount of red/orange tones, but probably not enough. Your hair should have been lightened with a bleach product as opposed to a box color. However, it will be extremely difficult and dangerous to try and get black hair to any shade of blonde due to the amount of processing time it would take to get to that point. By the time it is blonde, it will likely be on the floor. In conclusion, the best thing for you to do is to go to a salon to get your hair to a color that is tolerable. Once you have grown out your hair and it is completely virgin, you can try again, but have it done by a professional.Need professional hair color advice: how to correct home coloring gone bad - curly afro-amer/black hair?
I am biracial *black and white* and I kinda know wut you are saying. I would go to a hair salon to fix the problem. That costs money I know but you need to have someone fix your hair. Otherwise you might damage it more. Sorry I couldnt be more help.
Sounds like you didn't leave the dye on long enough. Pulled most of the color out, but didn't get the honey blonde. Get to a salon asap. They have the miracle stuff to pull out what you used, and then can dye your hair back to your natural color. My advise is to leave it alone and let it get healthy after that. Too many applications can damage your hair and make it fall out. Crurly afro american hair breaks easily anyway.

Try that shiny thick oil smoother on your hair. (like Citre Shine) It should take your curls and make them soft an beautiful. It will soften your curls and friz and with a headband you'll have a crips and clean doo.
i think you have to wash it with a clarifying shampoo. then with a baking soda. i forgot the brand, but the mag suggests that it will faden the color.
I would go to a well respected stylist... Color Correction is such a hard thing to do yourself, and the colors you buy from Sally's and other stores, are premixed and usually don't even tell what base it is... You never know what your going to get...Also, the color it shows on the box only turns out that color when you apply it on white or pale blonde hair....Save you hair more damage by going to someone who has experience with this kind of mess... It will be a little more expensive, but well worth it in the end...
well... for black coloured hair or dark brown... i dont think ur supposed to really dye it blonde out of the box!

it should say it on the box!!!!!

sometimes the blonde will come out orange... or yellow... or in this case red because it needs to be bleached.

i have dark brown hair and i put in honey blonde highlights... but they came out yellow! ... not blonde... or honey blonde for that matter!

BUT! i would go to the salon and get it fixed!

in the meantime... washing ur hair will help the loose some of the chemicals in there still!
Well it depens on the color u were befor u colored it! U might want to go to a salon!!!! but u could bye a dark color to cover up the orange! But a blue base color will get rid of the orange!
show us some photos first ...........ronald...rofl

Professional Hair Color Question?

I have two questions I would like to ask to a professional hairdresser:

1) I am trying an experiment on my mannquin head who is a natural level dark brown (2), but I want to eventually bring her to a dark blonde/medium blonde (level 6/7) I haven't used bleach because it is very damaging to the hair, so I've tried using SoColor Matrix in the Hi-Tones Version with equal parts neutral and equal parts ash to lift dark bases and some extra blonding cream. It has not worked, but I've also considered using an oil lightner. What should I do here and is there a better formulation I should be using?

2) Also, after I accomplish lightening her I want to bring her back to her natural level 2/3, and have been referring back to the contributing pigment which is red/red brown for level 2/3. What formulation would work best for this?

Thank You!Professional Hair Color Question?
You should probably do a swatch test to determine what works best. Try taking several pieces around the same color and put them in different things to see what works best over all. I assume you not only want less damage, but you want a good even tone as well. I would try 20V. perox with equal parts of Basic White or another bleach. Being mannequins don't have body temperature you can pretty much get it on evenly without having the roots pull lighter. Then you can tone it to the shade you want it and the color back will be easier because you've already toned it. Try one swatch like that, and another with the oil lightener and still another with high lift color I wouldn't use the ash or neutral until after you get your lift. You can use those to tone it later and it will lift higher for you.

There's really no difference. They both use the same commong ingredient. The only diff is that professional color is more customizeable (if the person knows what they are doing).
